Louanna Sonnier

OPELOUSAS- A Rosary Service will be held for Louanna Sonnier, on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Bertrand Family Cemetery in Prairie Ronde. 

Louanna Sonnier, born Louanna Fontenot on October 18, 1932, peacefully passed away at Opelousas General Hospital on August 24, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family until the very end.

Born in Washington, Louisiana, Louanna grew up in a close-knit community that instilled in her the values of hard work and resilience. Louanna's kindness knew no bounds, and she always went out of her way to help others in need.

Her passion for reading and sewing inspired those around her to appreciate the beauty of both literature and craftsmanship. Louanna's hands were always busy creating stunning pieces of art and clothing that showcased her immense talent. Her intricate needlework spoke volumes about her attention to detail and creative flair.

Louanna's family meant the world to her. She was a loving wife of 67 years to Irby Sonnier, with whom she built a strong foundation of love and support; their beloved daughter, Denise Sonnier was the light of Louanna's life. Louanna's unconditional love knew no bounds when it came to Denise and Irby.

Louanna was preceded by her parents, Frank and Ezore Fontenot, cherished granddaughter, Tiffany Deville, who brought immeasurable joy into her life; and her brothers, Sylvain Fontenot and Ervin Fontenot. 

Louanna Sonnier touched the lives of many with her warm smile, compassion, and genuine love. Though we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, let us also celebrate a life well-lived—an extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and creativity.
