WASHINGTON- In observance of Lois Jean Brott's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Please feel free to share your memories on her obituary page at Most Recent Obituaries | Sibille Funeral Home.
Lois Jean Brott unexpectedly passed away on February 3, 2026, in Washington, LA at the age of 79 while surrounded by loving family and her cat Sadie.
In her lifetime, our mom was passionate about pursuit of higher education, teaching and especially genealogy. She held a bachelor's and master's degree in English. Her favorite jobs were as a corporate proof-reader and teaching English to high school students in multiple states, including on a Montana Indian Reservation. She was a proud self-published author of genealogy books that assured historical family records are passed onto future generations. She passed these passions onto us along with her love of movies, music, and animals, especially cats & eagles. Lois was a proud of her ancestry, a fierce American patriot and a faithful servant to God.
Mom embodied a travelers' spirit, living in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Montana, Arizona, Texas, Georgia and Louisiana. However, her real home was in her mind where she could recall her fondest memories riding the Rehoboth Beach carousel, listing to music on the boardwalk with her sister Mary Lou and soon to be husband Pete, going disco dancing, frolicking on the beaches of Rehoboth & Destin with family and sharing time with friends. Her next destination will certainly include a warm beach with people dancing to music in the background, a cup of tea, a lit cigarette, those she has lost and God's welcoming embrace. Enjoy the journey mom!
Lois is survived by her daughters; Jacqueline Lobue (Gary) & Karen Dayton (Brentt), grandchildren; Gary Joseph & Bella Kate, ex-husband; Peter Swanson, nephew; Bryan Murdaugh, cousin; Patty Stealey, dear friends; Sherry & Karen, and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert & Ethel McWilliams, brother; Robert (Petey) McWilliams and sisters; Barbara Stanley & Mary Lou McWilliams.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Eagle Foundation or your local animal shelter.
