Lionel John Joseph

Port Barre- Funeral Services will be held for Lionel John Joseph at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Fr. Clint Trahan will provide the service. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary will prayed at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. A repass will follow the burial back at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre for one hour.Lionel was born on May 5, 1952, in Lafayette, La., to Haywood Joseph and Evina Rideaux. He spent his young life raised in the church as an altar boy and at one point was on the path to become a priest. In departing this life, Lionel leaves behind to cherish his memory three brothers, Paul Derin Joseph of Texas, David W. Joseph of Lafayette, La., Donald J. Joseph of Kenner, La., three sisters, Jessie Williams, of Opelousas, Mary Morris of Opelousas, Annette Gailes of Opelousas, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in by his parents, Haywood Joseph and Evina Rideaux, brothers, Isreal Joseph, Haywood Joesph, Jr., Charles Joseph, and one sister Charlene Chavis.Pallbearers will be Timothy Wright, Lionel James Poole, Reynard Eaglin, and Jarion Miles.
