Leverlais "Lee" Fontenot

OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for Leverlais “Lee” Fontenot on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Fr. Mark Ledoux will conduct the service. Visitation will be held on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service, the rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Ronde.

Leverlais Lee Fontenot, born on July 7, 1942, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, passed away on January 27, 2026, at Mercy Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He left this world leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a profound love for his family.

For 22 years, Lee made his mark as a mechanic at Chevrolet Garage, where his skills and knowledge earned him the respect and admiration of both his colleagues and customers. His passion for automobiles was evident, and he later took the incredible step of becoming the owner of Lee Fontenot and Son Automotive, a testament to his commitment to his trade and his family.

Aside from his professional achievements, Lee embraced a life enriched by simple pleasures, particularly his love for gardening. Additionally, he cherished the time spent camping with his family, creating treasured memories that will resonate for years to come.

Lee is survived by his son, Billy Lee Fontenot and wife Misty; grandsons, Devin Lee Fontenot and wife Holly, Tanner Lee Fontenot and wife Amanda; great-grandson, Hadley Lee Fontenot; sister, Nel Ryder; and his companion Dora Doucet.

Lee is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Bernella Fontenot; parents, Simon and Lula Fontenot; brothers, Joseph and Terrell Fontenot.

Lee will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, dedication, and unwavering love for those closest to him. As we reflect on his life, we honor the man who devoted himself not only to his work but also to his family, exemplifying the values of hard work, love, and commitment.
