Obituary

Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lester Joseph Deshotel, Jr. at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Clint will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial . Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2026 beginning at 9:00 am with a Rosary to be prayed at 1:00 pm. by Myra Duplechain, visitation will continue till 1:30 pm.

Lester, passed away on June 20, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 31, 1955, in Mamou, Louisiana.

Lester is survived by his step children, Sharon LaGrange of Sunset, Sheryl Hoyt of Lafayette, Robley Guilbeau, Jr of Carencro, Ray All Guillory of Port Barre, and Sherry Bosco of Alexandria, brother, James Weston Deshotel of Ville Platte, sister, Jo Ann Deshotel Ardoin of Eunice, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents, Lester, Sr. and Mary Deshotel, brother, Layton Lane Deshotel, sisters, Betty Lou Deshotel and Verdie Mae Deshotel.

Lester’s time on this earth was marked by dignity and quiet strength. Those who crossed paths with him will remember his steadfast character and the devotion he brought to every part of his life. His roots in Mamou held a special place in his heart, and it was there that the principles of kindness and resilience, which became hallmarks of his character, were instilled in him.

Though Lester’s journey ended at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, the legacy of his presence will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. As a son of Louisiana, Lester witnessed many seasons of change throughout his life, and his memory will be cherished by all whose lives he touched.

A life such as his leaves an enduring imprint not only through milestones but by the everyday acts of care, responsibility, and quiet support he showed to friends and community alike.

Lester Joseph Deshotel, Jr. will be remembered with profound respect, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
