Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Kermit Lavergne on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Deacon Jerome Collins will officiate the service.
Kermit, a resident of Church Point, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Kermit, age 68, will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Kermit is survived by his daughters; Lynn Lavergne Miller and her husband, Josh, Eve Lavergne Sonnier and her husband, Dusty, and Amy Lavergne Bourgeois and her husband, Chet; his fiancé, Janice Devillier of Church Point, sisters; Judy Lavergne of Georgia, Delores “Dee” Piazza of Lafayette, Kem Maturin of Broussard, and Debra Bellard of Church Point, daughter-in-law; Bracquel Simon Lavergne, grandchildren; Jade Richard , Caylee Lavergne, Carter Lavergne, Cayden Lavergne, Case Sonnier, Paisley Lavergne, Averi Simon, Kooper Lavergne, Konnor Lavergne, Wyatt Lavergne, Jax Bourgeois, also by his beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and all his cowboy friends who he taught how to be ranchers.
Kermit is preceded in death by his parents; Wilbert and Pearl Lavergne, son; Eric James Lavergne, brothers; Wilbert Joseph Lavergne Jr. and Rocky Bellard, brother-in-law; Peter C. Piazza and one grandson; Maverick Lavergne.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
