Judy Ann Ardoin

Judy Ann Ardoin (77) of Lafayette, LA, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at the Lady of the Oaks Nursing Home.

Judy was the first living child born to Earl Darby, Sr. and Nell Joubert Darby on March 24, 1949. Judy and her family resided in Opelousas, LA, where she met and married Richard J. Lacombe. Jr. During their marriage, together they welcomed two sons into the world, Richard Joseph Lacombe III and David Paul Lacombe. The marriage between Rick and Judy ended more than a couple decades later.

Judy had a deep love for flowers and saw the beauty in nature with a fondness for birds, but the true beat to her heart was music. She found great joy in country and zydeco music, singing it with anyone who would join in.

Later in life, Judy moved into assisted living where the incredible staff at Lady of the Oaks and St. Joseph's Hospice, were more than staff, they were her light and family, a special thank you goes to Mrs. Jordan Wesley of Lady of the Oaks and Miss Chrystal Vincent of St. Joseph's Hospice, your above and beyond care and efforts did not go unseen. You made Judy feel so loved and important every day that your beautiful presence graced her.

Judy is survived by her two sons, Richard J. Lacombe III and wife Jessie of Worcester, VT and David P. Lacombe of Duson, LA. Her two grandchildren Lillian and Jackson Lacombe, both of Worcester, VT. One sister, Jan Johnson of Whitehouse, TN. One uncle Felix Darby, Jr. and wife Marion of Opelousas, LA. Two nieces, Christy Boudreaux and Michelle Darby Miller and two nephews Dylan Earl and Dustin Cole Ellis. She also leaves behind her roommate Mrs. Barbara Melancon, their friendship may have been brief, but it was truly a blessing and gift to not only Judy but her family as well.

She is predeceased by her parents, Earl and Nell, a brother Earl Darby, Jr., two sisters, Cheryl Dupont and BettyJo Ellis, her children's father, Richard Lacombe, Jr., one Godchild Shawn Michael Boudreaux, and a host of aunts and uncles.

An autumn Christian Burial will be arranged in the Fall of 2027. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
