Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joycelyn Guillory Johnson on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre. Visitation will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service; the rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be at a later date in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

 Joycelyn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, has passed away at her home on December 4, 2023. She was born on October 20, 1951, in Opelousas to Allen and Gladys Guillory.

Joycelyn was a very loving and caring person. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a nurturing spirit that radiated through her actions and words. Joycelyn had a special talent for making those around her feel loved and cherished.

Joycelyn was a devoted mother to her son Lance Johnson (Amber) of Pecaniere, and her daughters Lori Elias of Clinton and Molly Johnson of Port Barre. She found joy in raising her children and was always there to guide them with patience and wisdom Joycelyn's heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren: Taylor Johnson, Cullen Johnson, Julia Connor, Kennidee Elias, Anniston Elias, Karleigh Johnson, Ethan Johnson, her sister-in-law, Yvonne Guillory. Their laughter brought immense happiness to her life. Recently she became a great-grandmother to Kayden Savoie who filled Joycelyn's heart with joy.

In addition to her immediate family whom she cherished dearly, Joycelyn is survived by her siblings: Wayne Guillory (Gloria) of Port Barre, Ricky Guillory of Port Barre, Glen Guillory (Pauline) of Port Barre, Keith Guillory (Dana) of Sulphur, Edward Guillory (Linda) of Lake Charles, and sister Sybil Cole of Oakdale.

Joycelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Carlton “Turtle” Johnson, her parents Allen, Sr. and Gladys Guillory, her two brothers, Alvin Guillory and Allen Guillory, Jr.

Joycelyn deeply loved her family members; they held a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joycelyn Johnson's life was a testament to the power of love and compassion. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and nurturing that will continue to inspire those who were touched by her presence. As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and strive to carry on her spirit of love and care for one another.
