Joshua Seth Marks

Port Barre-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joshua Seth Marks on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Visitation will begin on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 11:00 am until 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm. in the funeral home chapel. On Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 8:00 am visitation will continue until time of Mass.

Josh, a dedicated land surveyor in the oil field industry, passed away on March 30, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospice in Lafayette. Born on August 8, 1978, in Opelousas, Louisiana, Josh lived a life marked by warmth and kindness, consistently embodying the spirit of a very loving person who never met a stranger.

Throughout his career, Josh applied his expertise with diligence and precision, contributing significantly to the oil field sector as a trusted land surveyor. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a man of varied interests who found joy in hunting, fishing, cooking, and tending to his garden—activities that reflected his deep appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life.

Josh is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kimberly Stelly Marks, whose partnership and support were central to his life's journey. He was a cherished son to Johnny Marks and Darcus Saucier, whose pride in their son was evident. He also leaves behind his sons, Jace Marks; and Landon Kartchner. And daughter, Madison Kartchner; all of whom carried forward his legacy of love and warmth. His brothers, Toby Marks (Kassi), Randy Marks (Rachelle), as well as his nieces and nephews, Augie Marks, Lucy Marks, Anthony Marks, Alexis Marks, Madison Marks Gettings, and Gracie Marks.  All standing by his memory, sharing stories and honoring the bond they shared through their lives.

The family also mourns the passing of beloved father, Johnny Marks, grandparents, Joseph Marks, Sr., Sable Marks, J.L. Saucier, and Dorothy Gautreaux, whose lives had intertwined with Josh’s in meaningful ways.

Josh’s life was one of genuine connection and heartfelt relationships. Those who knew him remember a man whose kindness and openness made an indelible impression on everyone he met. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, yet his spirit continues to inspire with the enduring reflections of his character and values.

As family and friends gather to celebrate Joshua Seth Marks’ life, they hold close the memories of a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left the world better for having been a part of it. His legacy will be treasured by all who were fortunate to know him.

Pallbearers will be Jace Marks, Randy Marks, Toby Marks, James Marks, Brent Artigue, Simon Arnaud, Scott Courville, and Landon Kartchner.
