Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Carroll Wyble will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Mausoleum in Leonville.
Carroll, age 90, a resident of Port Barre, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Lafayette General Hospital.
Carroll was a member of the American Legion served as a Post Commander for Port Barre and Opelousas, also was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving his country proudly and also served in the Naval Reserve in his earlier years. He and his wife provided church music for 37 years, they also founded Good Shepherd Montessori School in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karleen Johnson Wyble of Port Barre, sons, Carroll “Chuck” Wyble of Texas and Michael Tedd Wyble and wife, Brigitte of Washington, daughter, Diane Wyble Bell of Port Barre, Lisa Wyble Pitre of Port Barre, and Jill Wyble Fontenot and husband, Richard of Port Barre, eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren, brother, Gerald Wyble and wife, Trish of Alabama, sister, Emilie Soileau and husband, Nelson of Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanders and Alzier Devillier Wyble, brothers, Aaron Wyble, and John Earl Wyble, sister, Maxine Morgan.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
