Joseph Stelly

Opelousas- A Funeral Service for Joseph Leeton Stelly, will be on Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Mausoleum in Leonville. Fr. Eldridge will officiate the service.

Joe, age 83, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home. Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953- to 1958. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nelda Credeur Stelly, of Opelousas, sister, Mary Jane Portal of Jefferson, La., special nieces and nephews, Ken Portal, Bart Portal, Malinda Martinez, (Jeff), Kathy Marchand (John), Nina Terranova (Jake), great nieces and nephews, Heather Achord (Marcus), Amber Compagno (Brain), Cody Martinez (Kristin), Jackie Marchand, Becky Matties (Chris) and her kids, Lauren Brown (Nick), Kyle Terranova, and Victoria Terrnova, and great-great- nieces and nephews, Dylan, Flynn and Alyssa Achord, Alaric Compagno, Molly and Abigail Mattis and Ronin Martinez.

Joe was also very close to his sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Gloria and Dean Higginbotham. The family wishes to thank them for everything they did. He loved all his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Offord J. Stelly and Lorena L. Stelly Richard, and one brother-in-law, Jesse Portal.

The family request visitation on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be, Ken Portal, Bart Portal, Jeffery Martinez, Jake Terranova, Kyle Terranova, and Dean Higginbotham.
