Joseph Smith

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joseph Levoys "Lee" Smith, age 90, on Monday, January 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. MSGR. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Lee passed away on January 13, 2018 at St. Landry Extended Care. Lee was employed with St. Landry Homestead for 56 years as Vice President and Loan Officer, including serving on the advisory board. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels where he served as an Usher. Lee enjoyed maintaining a manicured yard and spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, of 62 years, Jacqueline Pitre Smith of Opelousas, son, Craig L. Smith (Kim), daughters, Jennifer S. Vidrine and Paula L. Savoie (Huey) all of Opelousas, sisters, Juanita Babineaux and Melba Latiolais all of Opelousas, grandchildren, Tucker Smith (Katie), Cody Smith (Anne), Krystle Breaux (Brandon), Danielle Lanclos (Derek), Jessica and Jacques Savoie ; great grandchildren, Tyler Vidrine, McKenzie Campbell, Devin Breaux, Blake Breaux, Olivia Lanclos, Lane Lanclos, Sadie Smith and Matthew Smith, special nephews, Gerald Boudreaux and Toby Bertrand (godchild).

He was preceded in death by parents, O'Neal and Ernestine Carriere Smith, brothers, Levy and Will Smith, sisters, Lillian Bourgeois, Veota Boudreaux and Ella Mae Soileau.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas, a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. On Monday morning visitation will be held at Our Queen of Angels Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Craig Smith, Tucker Smith, Cody Smith, Huey Savoie, Jacques Savoie, Tyler Vidrine, Honorary will be Toby Bertrand, Gerald Boudreaux, Brandon Breaux, and Derek Lanclos.
