Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph J. Y. LaCombe on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Curt Mallet will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
J Y, age 86, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2020. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1098 in Baton Rouge. J.Y enjoyed riding in the field with his grandson Chris, and spending time with his family.
Readers will be Alyssa Meche and Owen Meche. Gift bearers will be Kay Campbell and Gail Meche.
He is survived by children, Cynthia Kay LaCombe Campbell (Randy) of Port Barre, Gail LaCombe Meche of LeBeau, Cody LaCombe, Sr. of Port Barre; brother, Jim LaCombe ( Theresa) of Port Barre; sister, Charlene Fontenot (E.J.) of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Michael Campbell, Christopher Meche, Skyla LeBlanc (Mark), Ryan Meche, Heather Metrejean (Johnny), Jessica Jeffers (Daniel), Cody LaCombe, Jr., (Crystal), Casey LaCombe (Margo), Cory LaCombe, Nienke Van Der Wal (Rik) and Marcus Schaumburg-Muller; and 27 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Merle Lejeune LaCombe; his parents, Imay and Pearl Barron LaCombe; his son, Mitchell LaCombe; brother, Frank LaCombe; sisters, Jessie Doucet, Wordna Viator, Dorothy Buford and Mary Louise LaCombe; and son-in-law, Terry “Ted” Meche.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 8:00 am until 12:30 p.m.
