For an impressive 53 years, John was the owner-operator of Miller's Iron Works and Construction, where his expertise and dedication earned him a respected reputation. His work was not just a means of providing for his family, but a reflection of his character—a testament to his commitment and diligence. John's legacy is deeply rooted in the foundations he built, both literally and figuratively.
As a very loving and caring person, John was cherished by those fortunate enough to know him. He found joy in the company of his beloved family, which included his wife of 53 years, Ella Marie Ryder Miller, who resides in Opelousas. Their enduring partnership served as an inspiration to those around them. Together, they nurtured a family that thrived on love and connection.
John is survived by his son, Raymond A. Miller, also of Opelousas, and his daughter, Gina M. Schwartz, who resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia, alongside her husband, Michael. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Lindsey Paige Miller, Raymond A. Miller, Cadiana Marie Schwartz, and Savannah Morgan Schwartz, in addition to one great-grandchild on the way. Each of these individuals carries a piece of John’s spirit, reflecting the values of kindness and hard work that he instilled in them.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jessey and Leota Miller, and his sister, Mary Louise Graves. Their memories will forever be cherished by his family as they celebrate a life well-lived and honor the profound impact he made on their lives.
