John Lemoine, Jr.

Opelousas - A Funeral Service will be held for, Mr. John Cass Lemoine, Jr., at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. John Lemoine, Jr., age 74, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during Vietnam. In his early years, Mr. John worked for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff Department. He also served as the Health and Safety Commissioner of Opelousas for a period of time, as well as, a Salesman and a Hotshot Driver. Mr. John enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with his friends and watching his favorite football team, The New Orleans Saints. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ida Sue Moscovis Lemoine; daughters, Michelle Johnson (Jason) and Cynthia Lemoine-Jordan (La'Jon); brother, Stephen D. Collins, III (Margaret); sister, Kathleen "Katie" Collins Amedeo (Raymond); grandchildren, Emily Mixon, Alec Johnson, Laila Jordan, Aysa Jordan and Bishop Jordan; niece, Lindsey Amedeo Gerkin (Charlie); great-nephew, Knox; great-niece, Collins; sisters-in-law, Betty Abdalla and Sandra Moscovis; and step-mother, Claire Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cass Lemoine, Sr.and Arthemise Rita Rauch Lemoine Collins; and step-father, Stephen Dennis Collins, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Alec Johnson, Jason Johnson, La'Jon Jordan, Thomas Ecker, Todd Ecker and Wayne Moscovis. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bishop Jordan.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to the staff at NSI Hospice Nursing Specialties, especially Shannon Guidry and also the staff at Hansberry Adult Day Health Care, especially Monique Darjean.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. John's name to NSI Nursing Hospice Specialties (1025 Camellia Blvd., Ste 201, Lafayette, LA 70508).
