John Harry Woodson

Opelousas--Funeral Service will be held for John "Chumpy" Harry Woodson on at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. The Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Benny Reppond will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Mausoleum in Placerville, La.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. till time of service in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

John, a dedicated plumber and a cherished family man, passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 9, 1943, in Opelousas, John spent his life embodying the values of hard work, love, and devotion to family.

Throughout his career as a plumber, John earned a reputation not only for his skill and expertise but also for his warm personality. He was known as a very loving person who held his family dear to his heart. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his commitment to those he loved.

John is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Woodson Fontenot of Opelousas; his sister, Jessie Lee Woodson Lanclos of Bridge City; his grandson, Seth Fontenot and his wife Kaylee; and his great-grandchild, Luca Fontenot. They will all carry forward their fond memories of John, cherishing the love and lessons he imparted throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elouise Lemoine Woodson, whose love and companionship greatly enriched his life; his parents, Edgar and Armenia Woodson; his brothers, Pearly Woodson and Charles Woodson; as well as his grandson, Devin Fontenot, and son-in-law, John Fontenot.

John Harry Woodson's legacy of love and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His family and friends remember him not just for his professional achievements but for the profound love he shared with them every day. His spirit will truly be missed.
