John David Fontenot

OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for John David Fontenot on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 1:15 p.m. in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Fr. Darren Eldridge will conduct the service. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home, the rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. by Fr. Eldridge. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

John David Fontenot, born on July 19, 1974, in Plaisance, Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on October 20, 2024, at the age of 50, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. John will be remembered as a beloved husband, an avid outdoor enthusiast, and a man who cherished the moments spent with his family.

He was lovingly referred to by his wife, Kimberly, as her “teddy bear boobie,” a testament to the warmth and affection that defined their relationship. John spirit and gentle nature were evident in his interactions with loved ones, where his care for family and friends shone through.

John’s love for the outdoors was not just a hobby; it was a passion that allowed him to connect deeply with nature and create lasting memories with those he adored. Whether it was enjoying a serene day in the wilderness or sharing stories around a campfire, John always made time for the experiences that brought joy to his life and the lives of those around him.

John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kimberly Woodson Fontenot of Opelousas; sons, Devin Fontenot and Seth Fontenot and wife, Kaylee all of Opelousas; daughters, Amanda Manuel and husband, Ryan and Melinda Fontenot all of Eunice; father, Richard Fontenot; brothers, Michael Fontenot and wife, Nicole of Port Barre and Brandon Fontenot of Opelousas; sister, Tracy Fontenot of Opelousas; and 9 grandchildren. 

John is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Savoy Fontenot.
