John Robin

Port Barre, Louisiana – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. John A. Robin on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

John, age 73 and a life-long resident of Port Barre, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge on Monday, December 5, 2022.   John was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather who loved his family more than anything, he fought a courageous battle with cancer and was taken from us to soon.   John was born on May 17, 1949, to the late Curley Robin and the late Elda Miller Robin.

John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna Duplechain Robin, children, Adriane Robin Emonet and her husband Mark, Ashley Christopher Robin, and Andrew Curley Robin and his wife, Darcel, sibling, Ricky Robin, Dorothy Stelly, and Michael Robin, mother-in-law, Rena Duplechain

He was an avid sportsman and loved nothing more than being in the outdoors especially at the deer camp or surf fishing on the shores of Grand Isle with his sons and other family & friends. He was a man of many talents but what brought him the most joy was being Papa to his seven grandchildren. His smile was never greater and no prouder than when he was in the stands cheering them on. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughters; Ellie Grace Emonet, Bella Marie Emonet, Ramie Kay Robin and Rhea Klaire Robin. His grandsons; Rix John Robin, Ethan Mark Emonet and Rye Jude Robin. He is also survived by his in-laws, Johnny Ray and Margie Duplechain, Jeff and Susan Ryder, Raphael and Gwen Barron, and Greg and Julie Valin.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Curley and Elda Robin, father-in-law, Earl Duplechain.

Pallbearers will be Ashley Robin, Andrew Robin, Ricky Robin, Michael Robin, Jacob Duplechain, and Mark Emonet.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rix Robin, Ethan Emonet, Greg Valin, Raphael Barron, Jeff Ryder, and Johnny Ray Duplechain.

John was a good and kind man, he will be missed by many because of his smile, his compassion and loving attitude. May his spirit shine forever in the hearts he touched. We need more men like John A. Robin in the world today.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Myra Duplechain. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
