Joel Devalcourt

Grand Coteau- A Funeral Service will be held for, Mr. Joel Devalcourt, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Coteau; visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Diane Bijeaux will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Mr. Devalcourt, age 80, a resident of Sunset, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Opelousas General Health System surrounded by his loving family. In his earlier years he enjoyed spending time tending to his garden. He loved spending time outdoors fishing, but most of all he loved hunting. Mr. Devalcourt was a member of numerous hunting clubs throughout the years. He loved his animals, especially his cat, Yellow and his dog, Chickey. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Devalcourt; daughter, Judy Tidwell and husband, Dwayne; brother, Olden Devalcourt, James Gary Devalcourt, Ira William Devalcourt, Francis Devalcourt, Chris Lawrence and Michael Daigle; sisters, Ronnier Palmer, Irene Foshee and Tonya Toney; granddaughter, Amber Lucky; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his sons, Daniel Devalcourt and Michael Devalcourt; parents, Ira and Grace Thibodeaux Devalcourt; and sisters, Renee Ebert and Veronica Day.
