Obituary

Opelousas-A memorial service will for Joe Fay Spry on Saturday at 12:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Wayne Evans will officiate the service. visitation will be held in the First United Methodist Church from 10:00 am until time of service.

Joe born on February 20, 1947, departed this world on August 4, 2026. Remembered for a steadfast presence and a quiet strength, Joe’s life touched many through the passage of nearly eight decades.

Throughout his years, Joe Fay Spry embraced the joys and challenges that life brought him. His journey, beginning in 1947, unfolded across decades marked by perseverance and dignity. While details of his professional pursuits or personal interests may not be written here, what remains clear from the lasting legacy of his name is the imprint he left upon friends, family, and community.

Those who knew Joe describe him as someone who navigated life’s seasons with grace. The span of his years bore witness to times of change and continuity, and to the deeper bonds that define our shared humanity.

Joe Fay Spry’s passing leaves a space in the lives of those who knew him. As we reflect upon his memory, we hold close the example of a life lived with sincerity and honor. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Holly Spry of Opelousas, his sons, Cameron Spry and his girl friend Lyric of Pennsylvania, Steven Spry and his wife Francine of Canada, and Michael Spry of Mississippi, brother, Lee Spry of Tennessee, sister-in-laws, Rita Spry of Tennessee, and Kitty Spry of Ashville Tennessee, sister, Patricia and Arlen Spry both of Tennessee, four grandchildren, William Spry, Niki Spry, Danyell Spry, Tara Spry Brown and one great grandchild, Marley Spry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Aliza Spry, son, Thomas Spry, brothers, Richard Spry, Marshall Spry, John Spry, sister-in-law, Sandra Spry.
