In loving memory of Jerome Gaudet, a successful businessman, a truly loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a compassionate person to everyone he knew. Jerome was born on December 27, 1941, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to his parents Wilmer Joseph Gaudet and Lottie Mae Vincent. On May 23, 2026, he passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana surrounded by his family and leaving behind a legacy that will be forever remembered by many.

Jerome graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a degree in Architecture. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1972.

During his life, Jerome fulfilled his passion for architecture and his love for design and construction. He was co-owner of Gaudet and Tolson Architects, with his lifelong friend and business partner Mr. Jack Tolson for nearly 40 years. Together they improved the quality of life for many families in Louisiana and other states. When he wasn’t pursing his career, Jerome enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was so proud of his grandson’s accomplishments in athletics and academics and always looked forward to watching each and every one of their sporting events. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoying many weekends at the hunting camp with his lifelong friends and hunting companions, Billy, AJ, Randy, Frith and Jimmy. He also spent many days on the water fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He had a passion for the conservation of our natural resources and contributed to many organizations including Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl and the Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana, that helped to preserve the land and wildlife that he cherished so dearly.

One of his many proudest accomplishments, alongside of his very good friend, Mrs. Pat Mason Guillory, was his involvement with the vision and construction of the St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial. Together with Mrs. Pat, and many other dedicated people, they were able to create a place where all veterans will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Jerome will always be remembered for his patience and compassion for others and the blessing his life had on so many people.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years Barbara Hudson Gaudet, daughter Katrice Gaudet Hadley (Jeffrey), Son Anthony Joseph Gaudet, grandchildren Hudson James Hadley and Samuel Jeffery Hadley.

Pall Bearers will be Andre Bordelon, Kevin Speyrer, Jay Tolson, Jeff Hadley, Hudson Hadley, Samuel Hadley
