Jean Guidroz, Jr.

Port Barre- A Funeral Service, will be held for Mr. Jean "Tex" Baptiste Guidroz, Jr., at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Port Barre, LA. Pastor Benji Richard will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

"Tex", age 82, a longtime resident of Port Barre, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Tri Community Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. In his past time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors in the woods hunting. He is remembered as the backbone of his family, as he was always there to lend a kind ear or helping hand. "Tex" was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Port Barre. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors his sons, Dwain Guidroz of Port Barre, and Richard Guidroz and wife, Christina of Port Barre; brothers, George Thompson of Port Barre and Murphy Guidroz of Opelousas; sisters, Joyce Wyble and Laura Fitzgerald both of Port Barre; brother-in law, Joseph Eugene Castille of Krotz Springs; sister-in-law, Shelly Dubroc of Port Barre; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Angelle Guidroz; parents, Jean B. Guidroz, Sr. and Agnes Guillory Guidroz; daughter, Priscilla Gaspard; brother, Harry Guidroz; and twin sisters, Leola Thompson and Eola Thompson.

The family requests visitation be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Thursday, February 22, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30: a.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Gaspard, Benjamin Pitre, Cody Smith, Chaz Guidroz, Ryan Gaspard and Landen Gremillion.
