Opelousas- Funeral service will be held for Javalie Woodson on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Fr. Jude Halphen will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Javalie Higginbotham Woodson, age 91, gained her wings and entered into eternal rest on Friday. May 12, 2023, at Senior Village Nursing Home (her home for the past 6 years).

Readers will be Gabby Landreneau and Paul Bergeron. Song selections are Dancing in the Sky and Go Rest High on that Mountain.

Javalie is survived by her children, Connie Landreneau  (Guy), Terry Woodson (Mona), Dennis Woodson, and Jenny Woodson (Daughter-in-law), grandchildren, Nikki Blair (Mike), Shannon Bergeron (Paul), Michelle Pesnell, Justin Landreneau (Courtney), Jared Landreneau (Katherine), Ryan Woodson (Hannah), Joshua Woodson (Sarah), Brandon Woodson (Rachel), and Ali Partridge (Andy),  great grandchildren, Bennett Blair, Frankie Blair, Levi Blair, Remy Bergeron (Alyssa), Rhett Bergeron, Rowen Bergeron, Rose Bergeron, Lane Pesnell, Anna Johnston (Shawn),  Gabby Landreneau, Blake Landreneau, Liam Landreneau, Ethan Landreneau, Reid Woodson, Avery Woodson, Makenna Rench, and Augustus Woodson, great-great- grandchildren, Madeline Peters, Grant Johnston and Harper Johnston, special Niece and nephew, Betty and David Robicheaux.

Javalie is preceded in death by her husband, Norris Woodson, her sons, Bobby Woodson and Roger “Brother” Woodson, her mom, Ida Kidder, her stepdad, Moise Kidder, her dad, Mack Higginbotham, and her brothers, Rodney Higginbotham, and Calvin Higginbotham.

 Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Remy Bergeron, Rhett Bergeron, Rowen Bergeron, Blake Landreneau, Lane Pesnell, and Ryan Woodson.

Special thanks to the entire staff at Senior Village Nursing Home, Tradition Health and to her niece, Ruby “Sister” Carroll for the love and devotion she gave to Aunt Javalie.

In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Research in Javalie Woodson’s name.
