James B. LeJeune

Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James LeJeune on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass.

James B. LeJeune, known for his dedication and love for his family, passed away on May 20, 2024 at Courtyard Retirement  and Assistant Living, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on July 20, 1931, in Chataignier LA., to Aluse and Myra Duplechain LeJeune.

James led a fulfilling life as a supervisor in the shoe business after graduating from high school, and serving his country in the U.S. Navy. His caring nature shone through in all aspects of his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Beulah S. LeJeune, and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.

In addition to his successful career and loving family life, James proudly served in the Navy and was an active member of the American Legion post 334 and Woodman of the World. He was very active in providing military honors for Veterans at funeral services. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, cooking, but above all, he found true joy in spending quality time with his family.

James is reunited in the afterlife with his parents, Aluse and Myra Duplechain LeJeune, and brother John LeJeune.

 He is survived by his loving wife Beulah S. LeJeune; sons Burnell LeJeune (Tricia) and David LeJeune (Sheryl); daughter Callie Graham (James); brother Garrett LeJeune (Karen); sister Jane Vidrine (Perry); grandchildren Lori, Kadi, Katherine, Corinne, Chris; and great-grandchildren Avery, Sophie, Will, Drew, Cooper, Ben, and Emma.

James B. LeJeune will be fondly remembered for his kindness, love for family, and the lasting impact he had on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he was truly cherished by many.

The family wants to offer thanks and appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana, and the staff at Courtyard Manor Assistant living. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre lead by Boo Boo Soileau. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday May, 24, 2024 until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be, Garrett LeJeune, Derek Latiolais, Travis Bozeman, Andre Greene, Todd Lalonde, and Chris Lucente.
