Opelousas- A funeral service will be held for Jack Keeling Tolson on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in the First Baptist Church in Opelousas. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until  time of service at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Opelousas. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

In loving memory of Jack Tolson, a talented architect and a truly loving person who touched the lives of many. Jack was born on October 16, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to his parents Lisa Keeling and Ray Wythe Tolson . On June 22, 2024, he peacefully passed away at his home leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished.

Throughout his life, Jack pursued his passion for architecture with dedication and skill. His creative vision brought to life numerous structures that will stand as a testament to his talent for generations to come. Beyond his career, Jack was known for his warm and loving personality, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer kind words to those around him.

Among his proudest accomplishments were serving as a Board Member of the Acadian Baptist Center for over 30 years, a long time Deacon at First Baptist Church in Opelousas, a  Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, the President of Kiwanis, being a 32nd-degree Mason,  developing housing for all, and local Service Unit Director of the Salvation Army. His commitment to serving his community exemplified his generous spirit and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed a variety of hobbies studying the Word of God,  fishing, drawing, gardening, evangelism, and watching cowboy movies. These interests brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity in different ways.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Young Tolson; daughter Sharon Tolson Samuel (Brook); sons Jack "Jay" K. Tolson, II (Monica) and Mark Wythe Tolson (Monique Mallet); grandchildren Thomas Brook Samuel (Taylor), Mckenzie Tolson Whipp (Jake), Stephen Taylor Samuel, Jack K. Tolson, III, and Mary Catherine Tolson; great granddaughter, Charlee Brook Samuel.

Jack Tolson will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a lasting impact on the hearts of many.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Brook Samuel, Jack K. Tolson, III,  Stephen T. Samuel, Kenny Fletcher, Richard Gaiennie, Tony Gaudet.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the caregivers who loved our dad as their own. We would also like to thank Leading Home Care, LHC, and LHC Palliative Hospice Care.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Gaudet, Zachary T. Young, Charles Tate and Jake Whipp.
