OPELOUSAS- A Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Jack Del Bueno, Jr. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. by Fr. Pete Smith in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas; visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home, The Elks will perform a memorial ceremony at 12:00 noon. An inurnment will be held at St. Landry Cemetery at a later date.
Jack Del Bueno, Jr., a dedicated social worker and beloved member of the Opelousas community, passed away on July 8, 2025, at the Opelousas General Hospital. Born on August 13, 1941, Jack faced the world with tenacity and grace, overcoming the challenges of cerebral palsy throughout his life.
A proud graduate of the USL, Jack earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology, a testament to his commitment to understanding and helping others. His career as a social worker for the state of Louisiana was marked by compassion and determination, where he impacted countless lives and contributed to the well-being of his community.
Jack was a man of many adventures. He cherished traveling alongside his wife, creating countless memories together that reflected his zest for life. His resilience in the face of adversity served as an inspiration to those around him. With a positive spirit, he embraced each day with gratitude and joy, he never saw his cerebral palsy as a “disability just an inconvenience”.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Gaspard Del Bueno; son, Charles Del Bueno; sister, Diane DeJean; 2 granddaughters, Lauren Del Bueno and Haley Del Bueno; and 1 great-grandson, Shiloh Boggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Del Bueno, Sr. and Cecile Devillier Del Bueno.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Jack’s name to the Opelousas Area Cerebral Palsy Clinic.
As we remember Jack Del Bueno, Jr., we celebrate not only his professional accomplishments but also the warmth and love he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of many, a beacon of courage and commitment to helping others.
