Irma Ledoux Speyrer

Opelousas -A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Irma Ledoux Speyrer at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas.  A visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mark Ledoux will celebrate the Mass. Rev. Conley Bertrand and Rev. Mike Champagne will be concelebrants. The burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Speyrer, age 100, was born August 16, 1923, in Prairie Ronde, Louisiana and died at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home on December 21, 2023.

Irma was a talented artist who received numerous awards for her paintings. She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe. She was a member of the Women’s Service League, as well as, the Our Lady Queen of Angels Altar Society and rosary group.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory Conrad Speyrer and Rand Speyrer, sister-in-law Madeline Franchebois Ledoux and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Speyrer; her father, Dewey Ledoux, Sr., and her mother, Alice Andrepont Ledoux; her brothers: Bryan Ledoux, Sr., Amos Ledoux, and Dewey Ledoux, Jr.; her sisters, Nell Ledoux Richard, Florence Ledoux Deshotels, and Sr. Nira Ledoux.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Ledoux, Jr., Luke Franchebois, Paul Ledoux, Joey Lafleur and Dain Duplechain. Reader will be Tim Richard, and gift bearers will be Cindy Ledoux Lafleur and Amy Ledoux Duplechain.

The family would like to express profound gratitude to the staff of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home for enhancing the quality of Irma’s life. The family would also like to extend their deepest appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana and her caregivers, Janice Jackson, Emma Richard, and Ellie Lafleur for their exceptional devotedness, love, care, and compassion.
