OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for Hilario Ignacio Escobar on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Unity Baptist Church of Opelousas. Pastor Greg Gaspard will conduct the service. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Unity Baptist Church located at 11460 HWY 190, Opelousas, LA 70570.

Hilario Ignacio Escobar, born on October 11, 1985, in Lamar, Colorado, passed away suddenly on September 1, 2025, at Opelousas General Hospital. He was 39 years old at the time of his passing.

Hilario was well-known for his diligent work as a mechanic, where he displayed not only a remarkable skill set but also an unwavering passion for automobiles. His hands-on approach and problem-solving abilities made him a respected figure in his community. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him could always count on his expertise in working on cars, offering not just services but advice filled with care and understanding.

Hilario is survived by his wife of 10 years, Misty Escobar of Opelousas; daughter, Iduvina Gonzales Escobar of Colorado; sons, Nathan Ray Martinez, Jr. of Opelousas and Ethan Ray Martinez of Opelousas; step-sons, Craig Thomas Nielsen of Opelousas and Brett David Nielsen of Colorado; honorary son, Gavin Clark; step-daughter, Rowan Norton and husband Dylan of Washington State; father, Rogelio Escobar of Colorado; mother, Susan Martinez of Cut Off, LA; brother, Hugo Escobar of Mexico; sisters, Alicia Escobar of Cutoff, LA and Erma Escobar of Mexico; step-grandchildren, Wyatt and Avery Norton.

He is survived by friends and acquaintances who will cherish the memories shared and the impact he made through his life’s work and passions. Hilario's legacy as a dedicated mechanic and a man who genuinely enjoyed his work will be remembered by all who had the opportunity to interact with him.
