Opelousas-A Funeral Service will be held for Harold Marks on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the service. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Harold Marks, born on November 28, 1949, in Opelousas, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on May 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a man who lived a full and dedicated life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a love for the simple joys of life.

Harold enjoyed a fulfilling career as a supervisor for Shell convenience stores, where he was respected for his commitment and leadership. His work ethic was a testament to his character, embodying integrity and dependability that left a lasting impression on his colleagues and community.

Beyond his professional life, Harold found great pleasure in a variety of hobbies and interests that kept him connected to the outdoors and his roots. He was an avid fisherman who cherished the tranquility of the water, a passionate gardener whose tender care brought life and he took pride in cutting grass, ensuring his surroundings were always neat and welcoming. Harold’s love for cooking was well known among his friends and family, who often gathered to enjoy his delicious meals. Growing up, he fondly recalled the times spent farming with his father, experiences that shaped his appreciation for hard work and nature.

Harold was survived by his wife of 23 years, Carlous Marks; son Douglas Marks and wife Penny; daughter, Tonya Marks; step-son, Tony Menier; step-daughter, Kimberly Fontenot; brothers, Carl Marks and Lionel Marks and wife, Lisa; sisters, Loretta Dupre and husband Larry, Dorothy Huguet and husband Joe, Eva Mayer and husband Glenn, and Angela Marks; grandchildren, Paige Andrepont, Devin Andrepont, Sayrn Marks, and Tre’ Marks; step-grandchildren, Daven Fontenot, Brandon Frank, Mallory Menier, Brian Menier, Shania West, Michelle Menier, Bryson Menier, Derrick Roberison, Brittany Hubbard, Hailey Luquette, and Masie Cole; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded by his by his parents, Aristide and Evelyn Marks; step-mother, Frances Marks; brother, Gerald Marks; step-daughter, Amy Menier; great-grandchild, A’Keem Ceaser.

Harold’s passing marks the loss of a humble, kind-hearted man who valued family above all else. His memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the peaceful places he so lovingly tended.
