Glen Joseph Higdon, a devoted family man, born on February 11, 1951, in Opelousas, LA, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Opelousas General Hospital.

Glen’s commitment to his work as a pipe fitter reflected his strong work ethic and attention to detail, qualities he carried into every aspect of his life. He retired from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office as a Major after 17 years. Glen lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, love for his family, and a passion for simple joys such as cooking and hunting. Yet, his true pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. He deeply cherished spending time with family and friends, finding particular delight in watching his grandchildren play sports, supporting them with unwavering enthusiasm.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Brenda Kennison Higdon of Port Barre, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and partnership. Glen's family includes his sons, Rusty Higdon (Michelle) of Port Barre, and Jeremy Higdon (Rebecca) of Port Barre; his daughter, Candace Higdon Benoit (Jared) of Pecaniere; and his sister, Martha Nell Higdon Scott of Scott, Louisiana. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Andi Lynn Higdon, Josie Rae Higdon, Hunter Joseph Higdon, Ross Higdon, Drew Higdon, Cooper Benoit, and Carlee Benoit, who brought him immense joy.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Velma Devillier Higdon, Jr.; and his grandson, Hunter Joseph Higdon. Their memory remains a treasured part of his life story.

Those who knew Glen remember him as a warm, generous soul whose passions extended beyond his career to the rich tapestry of family life and the great outdoors. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Pallbearers will be Trey Mistric, Jason Leblanc, Randall Scott, Ross Higdon, Andre Kennison and Brad Polotzola. Honorary pallbearers Drew Higdon and Cooper Benoit.
