Opelousas-- A Mass of Christian Burial be held for Geraldine Hoffpauier Touchet on Monday October 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial park in Opelousas.
Geraldine, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her on October 10, 2024. Born on September 20, 1938, in Opelousas, Louisiana, she was a kind and loving individual whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her Geraldine dedicated her life to caring for her family, working as housekeeper while also devoting herself to nurturing her loved ones. Her dedication and commitment to her family were evident in everything she did. She was proud of her accomplishments as a member of the Lay Minister and Altar Society, and she was recognized as the best mother to her family and within the recovery community. Her loving nature and steadfast support played a pivotal role in the lives of those around her.
An avid gardener, Geraldine found joy and solace in tending to her plants. She also enjoyed needlepoint and spent many hours crafting beautiful pieces. Additionally, she took great comfort in her faith, often praying for others with a heart full of love and compassion.
Geraldine is survived by her sons, James E. Touchet and Brent J. Touchet; her daughter, Melissa Touchet Atkins; her brother, Lee Clay; and her cherished grandchildren, Ian J. Atkins, Hilary A. Atkins, Rebecca A. Atkins, and Savannah C. Touchet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Langford J. Touchet; her parents, Merlin and Pearl Clay, Sr.; and her brothers, Merlin Clay, Jr., Marvin Clay, and Johnny Clay.
Geraldine's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family and community will always be remembered and cherished. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. On Monday the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
