Geraldine Baque

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mrs. Geraldine "Gerri" Baque, on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas.

Mrs. Gerri, age 86, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She loved traveling and attending the horse races. Mrs. Gerri worked for the Social Security Administration for 40 years where she retired. For her hard work she received the Distinguished Federal Service Award from President Clinton. Mrs. Gerri will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold L. Baque of Opelousas, LA; son, Randy Baque and wife, Pam of Port Neches, TX; daughters, Becky Roy and husband, Ricky of Church Point, LA and Leara Baque of Scott, LA; sister, Melody Gilcrease of Carencro, LA; 5 grandchildren, Amy Brown, Jenny Royer, Gunnery Sergeant James Walls, Erica Baque and Steven Baque; 9 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Anna and Clayton Brown, Desiré, Chloe, Regan, Christian and William Royer, and Boston Walls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Hilda Darbonne; sisters, Kathy Fontenot and Burnella Andrus; brothers, Hubert Darbonne and Buddy Darbonne.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins on Sunday evening. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Randy Baque, Steven Baque, John Baque, Ricky Roy, Clem Zerangue and Kevin Darbonne.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Geraldine Baque to Hospice of Acadiana.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and Mrs. Gerri's caregiver, Debbie Rosenthal, for the care and love they showed their mother.
