OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for Gerald Bob Marks on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Ulysse Joubert will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Gerald Bob Marks, a beloved member of the Opelousas community, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments. Gerald was born on June 10, 1952, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Oralie and Rita Mae Marks.

Gerald dedicated 29 years of his life to Park Vista Elementary School and Marks Texaco and Carwash in Opelousas. He was a hardworking individual who left a lasting impact on both the children he inspired and the customers he served at the Texaco.

Gerald's commitment to his work was admirable, and his contributions to the community will always be remembered.
Outside of his professional life, Gerald had a deep passion for gardening and working in his shop. These pursuits brought him great joy and allowed him to showcase his creativity and skill. It was in these moments that he found solace and serenity among nature or while crafting remarkable projects with his own hands.

Family meant everything to Gerald, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruby R. Marks; his son, Chris Marks; his daughter, Nicole Marks Walker and her husband, Donavan; his brother, Charles Marks and wife, Linda B. Marks. Gerald adored being a grandfather to three grandchildren - Joshua Nezat, Shelbie D. David (and her husband Bryce), and Kayden Johnson. Additionally, he was blessed with nine great-grandchildren - Laylie, Ryklynn, Everly, Braxton, Rhett, Hazleigh, Haegon, Laeson, Braedon. The love and pride he felt for each of them were immeasurable.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oralie and Rita Mae Marks; and his godchild, Brad Marks who held a special place in his heart.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be Chris Marks, Josh Nezat, Kayden Johnson, Donavan Walker, Bryce David and Dustin Marks. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Marks and Shane Stelly.
