OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Georgiana Joubert Antie, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Fr. Jude Thierry will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home chapel in Opelousas. A rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m. by Beverly Soileau in the Sibille Funeral Home chapel.
Georgiana Joubert Antie, born on September 23, 1943, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at her residence in Port Barre, Louisiana. Her life was marked by warmth, dedication, and a spirited engagement with the community around her.
Georgiana was known for her loving nature and vibrant personality, which shone through in her many hobbies and interests. She delighted in cooking, bringing joy and comfort to those around her with her culinary talents. Her enthusiasm for games such as pokeno and bingo was well known among friends and family, reflecting her lively spirit and her love for social gatherings. Additionally, she enjoyed shopping, finding pleasure in the simple joys of life and sharing these moments with loved ones.
A significant part of Georgiana's proudest accomplishments was her involvement in the Counseling on Agent Organization. Her commitment to this cause demonstrated her dedication to helping others and her desire to make a positive impact in her community. This work was a true testament to her compassionate and proactive nature.
Georgiana is survived by her daughters, Michele Darbonne (Tony) of Port Barre and Stacey Fitzgerald of Port Barre; 5 grandchildren, Britni Daigle (Paul), Lexi Arceneaux (Dane), Kaitlin Stelly (Kalen), Kori Fitzgerald and Klair Fitzgerald; 9 great-grandchildren, Camryn Daigle, Lane Daigle, Luca Daigle, Bella Arceneaux, Arden Arceneaux, Elliot Arceneaux, Reid Stelly, Harper Stelly, and Oaklee Stelly.
Georgiana is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Antie; her parents, Adolph Joubert & Thelma Smith Joubert; brother, Adolph Joubert Jr. (A.J.); and sisters, Vernita Lassaigne, Annabelle Dupre, Ruby Fontenot, Henrietta Speyer, Joyce Tweedel, Jerry Fontenot, and Ida Theriot.
Her legacy is one of kindness, community spirit, and a zest for life, cherished by all who knew her. Georgiana Joubert Antie's memory will live on in the hearts of many, a beacon of warmth and dedication that brightened the lives she touched.
