Obituary

Duson – George Christopher "Chris" Alston, age 50, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at The Carpenter House surrounded by the love of his family.Chris was born on December 21, 1975, in Marrero, Louisiana, to George Roy Alston and the late Carranell Alexander Artigue. He graduated from Port Barre High School in 1993 and built a career in casino surveillance, serving as Surveillance Supervisor at Evangeline Downs for the past seven years. He was respected by his coworkers for his dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic.Chris found great joy in playing video games with family and friends, attending Comic Con events, going to the movies, and sharing his love of science fiction and fantasy, Saints football, and all things Star Wars with those around him. His greatest roles in life were those of husband, father, son, and friend. He possessed a quiet strength, a sharp wit, and a kind heart that touched everyone who knew him. Though often reserved, Chris showed his love through humor, loyalty, and unwavering support of those closest to him.Above all, his greatest joy was watching his son, Dominic, grow up. Through everyday moments and life's milestones, Chris treasured the time he spent with his family and created memories that will be cherished forever.Chris is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Alston, and son, Dominic Alston, both of Duson; his father, George Roy Alston, and stepmother, Toni Alston, of Port Barre; his foster daughters, Kayla McLin of New Orleans and Amber Bercegeay of French Settlement; his brother, Joshua LeBouef of Port Barre; his sisters, Hannah LeBouef of Port Barre and Kathryn Artigue of Ardmore, Oklahoma; his in-laws, Ronald and Mary Barnhizer of Plaquemine, La.; his step-grandmother, Leona DiCapo of Melville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carranell Alexander Artigue; his sister, Carrie Montgomery; his maternal grandparents, Marie and Daniel Alexander; his paternal grandparents, James Roy Alston Jr. and Genneva Alston; and his step-grandfather, Anthony DiCapo.Chris will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of family, his passion for gaming, his knowledge of random trivia, and the quiet kindness he extended to those fortunate enough to know him.
