Frank Domingue

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, La., for Frank James "Frankie" Domingue, who passed away after a long illness on Monday, July 30, at the Evangeline Oaks Guest Home in Carencro where he has resided for over a year. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.

Frank, a native of Sunset, La., was born to Frank John and Lois (Devalcourt) Domingue on November 26, 1938. He was married to Avis (Schoelen DeSoto) of Lafayette, La., for over 30 years and resided in Carencro, La., for the past 19. He was an avid fishermen and hunter, loved to raise, train, and work with his dogs; and he received national recognition for several of his Labrador Retriever field trial champions.
Frank graduated from Cathedral High School in Lafayette and from SLI (now UL) with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. He also attended LSU/Baton Rouge, La., and UNO/New Orleans La. He retired after serving as both a public and corporate accountant for 20 years each, which included working for the Affiliated Blind Training Center for the visual and hearing impaired, for Broussard, Poche, Lewis and Breaux CPA's, for oilfield service companies, and as a retail grocer for 5 years. He was a veteran of military service and was honorably discharged from both the US Army and the National Guard after serving in each for 2 years. He served as a Board Member of First National Bank of Opelousas, as President of Civitan Club of Lafayette, as President of the Alleman Center/Acadian Village, was a charter member of the St. Edmonds Knight of Columbus, was the longest serving President of Lodge 501 of Woodmen of the World, was a Lifetime Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, was Treasurer of Ducks Unlimited (Carencro Chapter), was a member of the Carmelites Guild, made Cursillo #5 in Prairie Ronde, served as an usher, altar server, and lay minister at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau and at St. Edmonds Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Frank is survived by his wife, Avis; his children, Arlene Mistric Domingue (Gerald) of Leonville; Carole Boudreaux (Blaine) of Sunset; Kenneth James "Kenny" Domingue of Baton Rouge, La.; Annette Domingue Neiweem (John) of Lagrange Park IL; Phyllis Domingue Boudreaux (Anthony "Tony") of Sunset; Phillip Joseph Domingue of Denver, Co., and friend James McRae; Dave John DeSoto of Lafayette; and Bobby Clay DeSoto (Joni) of Sedalia, Co.; by 12 grandchildren, Amy Mistric Williamson (Matthew); Jeffery Mistric (Alyssa); Craig Boudreaux (Christen); Dr. Shawn Boudreaux (Brooke); Brock Boudreaux, Emily Boudreaux, Colby Domingue, Jack Nelson DeSoto, Sebastien DeSoto, Cody Young, Lacey Young, and Connor Soyez, by 8 great-grandchildren, Liam Williamson, Gabriel Mistric, Madison Boudreaux, Lucas Boudreaux, Connor Boudreaux, Elijah Boudreaux, Emery Anne Boudreaux, Amelie Estelle Boudreaux; by 3 brothers, Theodore Domingue (Kathleen) of Church Point, Louis Domingue (Denise) of Mire, and Raymond Domingue (Nancy) of Lafayette; by 7 sisters, Hilda Richard of Lake Charles, Linda Domingue Freyou (Simon) of New Iberia Anne Domingue Bergeron (John) of Carencro, Leota Domingue Castille of Youngsville, Nancy Domingue Ellis (Barry) of Madisonville, Elizabeth Domingue Block (Randy) of Lafayette, and Lori Lynn Domingue Guillory (Scott) of Covington, La.; by 5 godchildren, Raymond Domingue, Sr., Collette Domingue LeBlanc, John Bergeron, Jr., Tony Montesano, Kathrine Richard Bersofski; by a host of nieces and nephews; and by his best friends, Dr. Don McConnell, Ellis Guilbeau and Dr. Kenneth Guilbeau.

Preceding Frank in death were his first wife, Bernadine (Carroll); his parents, Frank and Lois Domingue; his paternal grandparents, Leota Mouton Domingue And Delpha F. Domingue; his maternal grandparents, T.B. "Bebe" Devalcourt and Louise Darby Devalcourt; a sister, Irene Della Domingue Thompson and husband, Bernal Thompson, II, brothers-in-law, Franklin Richard and Jimmy Castille; his niece, Lois Renee Guillory and nephew, Frank John Domingue, II; his best friend, Fred Guilbeau; and his loving in-laws, John and Rosemary Schoelen.

The family requests that visitation be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening by Deacon Cody Miller and a eulogy by Raymond Domingue, Sr. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to departure for Mass.

Vocalist for the Mass on Monday will be Frank's daughter, Arlene Domingue Mistric; and the organist will be Jewell Trosclair. Kenny Domingue, Phillip Domingue, Bob DeSoto, Theo Domingue, Louis Domingue, and Raymond Domingue, Sr. will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Mistric, Blaine Boudreaux, Tony Boudreaux, John Neiweem, and Felix "Brother" Horaist.
