Francis Bergeron

Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Francis Bergeron on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Msgr Curt Mallet will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. 

Francis, age 86 entered into eternal rest on December 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He is going to be missed by his family and friends.

Francis is survived by his sons, Clifford Bergeron and wife (Christy) of Port Barre and Clayton Bergeron and wife (Holly) of Arkansas; 9 brothers and sisters; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchilden and many great-great grandchildren.

Francis is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Barron Bergeron; parents, Eve Bergeron and Elda Stelly Bergeron; daughter, Sarah Doucet Janelle; son in-law, Weston Doucet; and 7 brothers and sisters.

Francis was a man of many interests, finding solace and joy in gardening, where he had a particular fondness for planting okra. His love for nature extended beyond the garden; he enjoyed hunting and spent countless hours in the beauty of the great outdoors. His work ethic was admirable, reflecting a commitment to both his profession and the land he cherished.

Throughout his life, Francis exemplified strength, resilience, and a profound appreciation for life’s simpler pleasures. His legacy is one of hard work, love for the environment, and the nurturing spirit he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly remembered and missed by all who were touched by his presence.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home chapel in Port Barre. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
