Elvina Venable

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Elvina Marie Venable, on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Lady of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. MSGR. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Elvina, age 89, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children, Roger Venable and his wife Vickie, of Terry Mississippi, Larry Venable and wife, Evelyn of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Troy Venable of Opelousas, Brenda Venable Ortego and husband, David of Opelousas, and Linda May and husband, Garry of Morgan City, brothers, sisters, Mary Brown of Baton Rouge, and Mable Brown of Morgan City, grandchildren, Stacey Myers Bearb, Scott Myers, Sean Myers, Lani V. Truxillo, Dustin Venable, Caroline Coffelt, Luke Venable, Callan May, Garry May II, Brock Mayeaux, and Reagan Venable, and great grandchildren, Katie Ann Venable, Dawson Truxillo, Lilli Venable, Ross Coffelt, Harold Venable and Rhett Coffelt, Summer Abbot, and Heather Brown.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold John Venable, parents, Ewell and Theodile Ortego, brothers, Ampreman Ortego, Bradley Ortego and James David Ortego.
The family requests visitation be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
