Lawtell– A Mass of Christian Burial for Elvin Bertrand will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Fr. Ted Broussard will officiate the Mass. Interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery.
Elvin, age 88, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020, at Opelousas General Health System. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Elvin retired from the U.S. Post Office after 25 years as a mail carrier in Opelousas.
He is survived by niece and caretaker, Jo Ann Touchet of Carencro, nieces, Rebecca Fontenot and her husband, Norbert of Ville Platte, Linda Centonfanti and her husband, Joe of Denham Springs, LA., Jennifer Wilson of Las Vegas and Carolyn Bertrand of Church Point, nephews, Michael Touchet of Atlanta, GA., Craig Touchet and his wife, Marie of Atlanta, GA., Ronald Bertrand and his wife, Louisa of West Lake, and Steve Bertrand, and his wife, Tina of Eunice, great nieces, Jessica, Megan, Rachel. and Jacob Fontenot, and Great- Great nieces and nephews, AlLee Jo Fontenot, Alzane Fontenot, Dani Jo Fontenot and Nathan Fontenot, and brother-in-law's, Aaron, Bobby and Davis Manuel.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Jane Manuel Bertrand, and his son, Carl A. Bertrand, parents, Eldridge and Elia Bertrand, brothers, Eldon Bertrand, Whitney Bertrand and Heard Bertrand, sisters, Lena Mae Lavergne and Florence Touchet,
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. And will resume on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
