Edward Barron, passed away on January 24, 2024, the day after his 89th birthday, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Port Barre.

Edward's career truly embodied the spirit of hard work and perseverance. He began his journey as a truck driver before transitioning into the farming industry. His passion for the land led him to successfully cultivate various crops and even venture into catfish and crawfish farming. Edward's dedication extended beyond his own farm; he opened B&M Farm Supply to provide fellow farmers with essential equipment and resources.

One of the highlights of Edward's professional achievements was his ownership of the Dixie Tractor Company. His most prestigious accomplishment was his many International Harvester Awards. As an astute businessman in the tractor industry, he established himself as a reputable figure by ensuring quality and reliability in every aspect of his work. In recognition of his unwavering commitment to excellence, Edward received the esteemed title of Annual District Winner for the 1980 International Safestar competition, which brought great pride to both him and his community. Edward’s legacy will be eternally cherished by his loving family, including his sons who joined him on his farming journey.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Edward was known for his generous spirit. He possessed an innate kindness that endeared him to all who knew him. Those fortunate enough to cross paths with Edward were greeted by his warm smile and open arms; he embraced each person as if they were family. A true embodiment of compassion, Edward had a heart that overflowed with love for others.

Edward found joy in simple pleasures throughout his life. Gardening provided solace and allowed him to connect with nature's beauty. Traveling allowed him to broaden his horizons while spending quality time with family brought immeasurable happiness. However, one could argue that Edward's cooking skills were legendary among those who had the privilege of savoring his delicious fish dishes.

In addition to being a hard worker and avid gardener, Edward also valued his community and strived to make a difference. He dedicated years of service to the drainage board, where he served as the Vice President until retirement, where his legacy on the board was carried on by his son, John Ed.
