PORT BARRE– A Private Funeral Service will be held for Edmond Joseph Sonnier. Pastor Perry Hubbs will conduct the services.
Edmond, age 89, a resident of Port Barre, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Edmond served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War for 6 years as a Sargent First Class and was honorably discharged. During his time in the service he received the national defense service metal and a good conduct metal. In his later his he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Edmond will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Edmond is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kiyoe Kimura Sonnier; sons, Jerry Sonnier, Bobby Sonnier (Jenny), Kirby Sonnier (Brenda), Edmond “Eddie” Joseph Sonnier, Jr.; daughter, Debbie Sonnier Buckley (Randy); 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Edmond is preceded in death by his parents, Nestor and Constance Sonnier; brothers, Gurvey Sonnier, Columbus Sonnier, Burley Sonnier, Neuberin Sonnier; sisters, Athalia Sonnier Comeaux and Mary Ann Sonnier Prudhomme.
