Eddie Schexnayder, born October 16, 1939, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, in the comfort of his home.
Eddie lived a life marked by endurance, faith, and devotion to the people and work he loved. As the owner of Schexnayder Trucking, he built a career that spanned more than 50 years on the road, driving cross-country in his big rig with Jesus as his co-pilot. That long journey reflected the steady determination that shaped his life—a man willing to work hard, keep moving forward, and meet each mile with purpose.
Beyond his work, Eddie will be remembered for the warmth of his presence and the strength of his spirit. He was a great storyteller who loved sharing memories and conversation over a cup of coffee. He was rooted deeply in his Catholic faith throughout his life. His strength in faith was unmatched, and his life bore witness to conviction, resilience, and grace. His family was at the center of his heart, and he treasured time spent with them, offering the kind of steadfast love and support that defined him as a dedicated family man. Through it all, he carried a positive attitude that left an impression on those around him.
Survivors include his two sons, Carl Schexnayder and his wife Kyle, and Ray Schexnayder and his wife Denise of Arnaudville; five daughters, Stephanie Blanchard and her husband Eddy, of Arnaudville, Sandy Suggs and her husband Mike, of Shreveport, Stacie Chauffe and her husband Gene, of Arnaudville, Sonia Angelle and her husband Simon “Tibby”, of Arnaudville, and Felicia Schexnayder of Paducah, Kentucky; his brothers, James Schexnayder and Earl Schexnayder and wife Brenda of Arnaudville; his sisters, Audrey Miller and husband Ernest of Houma, and Marie Stelly and husband Lionel of Port Barre; seventeen grandchildren, Klaire, Shannan, Jordy, Julian, Noelle, Joshua, Andre’, Cali, Andrew, Chase, Candi, Gabrielle, Madison, Wes, Logan, Alexis and Samuel; and sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way.
Eddie has now been reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Stella Tauzin Schexnayder; parents, Cornelius Schexnayder and Eugenia LeBlanc Schexnayder; his brothers, C.J. Schexnayder and Calvin Schexnayder; his sisters, Doris Hollier and Neva Ducote; and his sister-in-law, Helen Schexnayder.
Eddie will be remembered with deep affection and lasting gratitude.
