Dylan Bernard

A Celebration of Life will be held for Dylan Ray Bernard on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Ronald J. Bernard will conduct the services. Larry J. Bernard, Jr. will recite a reading. A private inurnment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Dylan, age 25, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Opelousas General Health System. It was there Dylan gave the gift of life through organ donation following his passing. Dylan was a strong young man of 25.

He bought his first home in 2015. He started dialysis in 2016; the whole time working as much as possible. He sold his first home and bought his second one in 2018. Dylan just recently bought himself a new truck, which he was very proud of. He had multiple issues in the past and he has overcome them, as he will this now in heaven. He was his momma’s world and his daddy’s best buddy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his mother, Penny Bernard of Opelousas; father, Darrell Bernard and wife, Elizabeth of Opelousas; brothers, Trent Smith and wife, Mallory of Bunkie and John Bernard and wife, Dana of Opelousas; sister, Laila Whatley of Opelousas; step-brothers, Tyler Davis and Logan Davis both of Norman, OK; step-sister, Chelsea Davis and fiancé, Michael Whatley of Norman, OK; paternal grandparents, Larry Bernard, Sr. and Judy Bernard of Opelousas; maternal grandmother, Cora Moreau and Benjamin of Evergreen; godchild, Cypress Smith; 4 nephews and 3 nieces.

Dylan is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Oscar Richard, Sr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. by Deacon Cody Miller. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
