Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Douglas "Red" Chenevert, on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Reverend Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery.
Red, age 72, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at his home with his family at his side. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Carrie Briscoe and husband, Donald of Port Barre and Misty Badeaux and husband, Stoney of Arnaudville; brother, Robert Chenevert and wife, Becky of Port Barre; and 5 grandchildren, Dusty Guerin, Tristen Badeaux, Cammie Badeaux, Devin Briscoe and Cassidy Briscoe.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Chenevert; parents, John Dempsey and Mary Agnes Chenevert; brothers, "T-Boy" and J.D. Chenevert; sisters, Theresa Chenevert and Delores Bertrand.
The family requests visitation be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until (open all night). The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
