Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial Will be held for Dorothy Bruner on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. A visitation will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church all on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Fr. Mark Ledoux will celebrate the Mass. The burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Dorothy Bruner, a beloved soul who graced this world with her kindness and warmth, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2024 at Opelousas General Health System. She was a beacon of love and care to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dorothy was born on July 29, 1934, to her loving parents Edwin and Anna Babineaux.

Throughout her life, Dorothy exemplified compassion and generosity. Her radiant personality touched the hearts of everyone she encountered - she never met a stranger. Dorothy's genuine spirit made the world a brighter place, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she cared for.

Dorothy is survived her nieces, Connie Gardiner, Margaret Leger (Ronald), Sue Comeaux, Jere Campbell (Blaine),  Jill Babineaux, nephew, John P. Fontenot, Jr., niece in law, Corlis Fontenot, great nieces and nephews, Chris Gardiner, (Kristin), Jennifer Miller (Benjamin), Jessica Fontenot (Eric), Kelly Leonard, (Jamie), Jacob Campbell (Olivia), Ashley Fontenot, Erin Fontenot, and Beau Fontenot (Jami), 9 great great nieces, 12 great great nephews, and 3 great great great nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death her first husband, James Bubbie LeBlanc; her second husband, Elton D. Bruner, Jr.; along with her brother Lee Babineaux and Johnny Babineaux; sisters Flora Belle Babineaux Fontenot and Exilta "Sis" Babineaux Fontenot; brother in laws, Wilfred Fontenot and John P. Fontenot, Sr., sister in laws, Abbie Babineaux, and Elise Babineaux, nephew Billy Fontenot; nephew in law, Johnny Comeaux, and great-nephew Kameron Jude Comeaux.

In celebrating Dorothy's life, let us remember her as a symbol of unconditional love and unwavering kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

May Dorothy Bruner rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light that she so freely shared during her time on earth.
