Opelousas--Funeral Service will be held for Dorothy "Dot" Anderson on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Louis Charrier will officiate the service. June Charrier will provide the music. Burial will follow in the Morrow Baptist Cemetery in Morrow, La. Visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Dorothy, a beloved member of the Washington, Louisiana community, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at Opelousas General Health System. Born on November 14, 1935, she dedicated her life to her family, faith and her career, leaving a legacy of love and devotion.
Dorothy served for 31 years in payroll accounting for the St. Landry Parish School Board. After retiring, she cherished time spent with her loved ones and taking care of her grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Marvin Anderson, with whom she shared 49 cherished years. Together, they fostered a nurturing home filled with warmth and affection.
She had a passion for sewing and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that were treasured by her family. Additionally, her love for music shone through as she played the piano, filling her home with melodies that comforted and uplifted those around her.
Her legacy continues through her daughters, Debbie Glynn (Pat) of Port Barre and Kelly Lamke of Washington. Dorothy was also a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Gina Ardoin (Dustin), Andy Glynn (Lindsey), John Luke Lamke, and Landon Lamke. Her great-grandchildren, Ella Ardoin, Emery Ardoin, Jacob Lane Glynn, Wyatt Glynn, Beau Glynn, and Emmett Glynn, were a source of joy and pride, further enriching her life.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Anderson, her parents, Reggie and Ida Sibille, and her sister, Elinor "Ellie" Jackson. While her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her, her spirit will live on in the memories she created and the love she shared throughout her life. Dorothy Anderson will be remembered for the kindness, compassion, and unwavering love she imparted to her family and friends.
