Port Barre- A Funeral Service will be held for Donald Ray Richard on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Port Barre. Pastor Benji Richard will conduct the service. 

Visitation will be held on Monday at the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Donald, born on October 21, 1945, in Jennings, Louisiana, passed away on August 6, 2026, at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

Donald’s journey began in the warmth of Jennings, where he spent his formative years, and his presence touched those who had the privilege to know him. His life bridged over eight decades of change and growth, witnessing eras that shaped both his personal path and the community around him.

As we reflect on his life, we honor not only the day of his birth and the place where he came into the world but also the quiet courage and dignity with which he faced life’s trials and triumphs. The significance of Donald’s life endures beyond these lines—cherished in the memories of all who recall his spirit and kindness.

At this time, we pause in respectful remembrance of Donald Ray Richard. May his memory be held with love, gratitude, and enduring respect.

He is survived by his sons, Robert Richard and his wife Terri of Livingston, LA and Ronald Richard of Port Barre; daughters, Katy Fruge and her husband Joey of Opelousas and Tammy Dalton of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brothers, Leo Richard of Port Barre and Tony Richard of Haughton, LA; sisters, Betty Scott of Picayune, MS and Audrey Blaisdell and her husband Kim of Paducah, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Robyn, Derek, Michael, Megan, Amber, Seth, Landon, and Jeremy; and his dog, Baby Girl.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Dowling Richard; his parents, Leo Richard, Sr. and Jesslyn Richard; his brothers, Harold Richard and Tommy Richard; and daughter-in-law, Stacey Richard.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Morvant, Derek Richard, Jeremy Harper, Sean Thomas, Seth Fruge, and Landon Fruge. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Richard, Jr. and Steven Richard.
