Opelousas-- A memorial service will be held for Donald Joseph Hebert on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel . Pastor Benny Reppond will officiate the service. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
Donald, a dedicated Foreman Iron Worker and a cherished member of the Opelousas community, passed away peacefully in his home on October 25, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on August 12, 1960, in Opelousas, Louisiana, Donald was known for his heart of gold. He devoted much of his life to helping those in need, particularly the elderly, embodying a spirit of kindness and compassion that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Donald had a wide array of talents and interests, proudly earning the title of "Jack of all trades." His expertise and willingness to lend a hand made him a dependable figure in both his profession and personal life. Above all else, he loved his family dearly and always put their needs before his own. Donald has a passion for music and enjoyed singing while working.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Ranson Hebert, and their daughters, Tabitha Vidrine of Lawtell and Shawntel Hebert Richard of Opelousas. Donald is also survived by his son-in-law, Mark Vidrine of Sunset, and his brothers, Ricky Hebert (Janice) of Opelousas and Simon Hebert, Jr. (Simone) of Lawtell. He leaves behind his sisters, Tracy Hebert Noel of Opelousas and Charlene Hebert Gurule of Albuquerque, New Mexico. His legacy continues through his three cherished grandchildren, Gavin Vidrine, fiancé (Octavia Woodson), Gage Richard, and Tanner Vidrine, along with his little companion, CoCo, his chihuahua puppy.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Simon Hebert and Barbara Hebert Vidrine, his son-in-law, Christopher Richard, his sister, Sandra Gail Hebert, and his grandson, Drake Richard.
His presence will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man. Donald's memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his generosity and love.
