Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dolores K. Soileau on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Henry Antony will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dolores K. Soileau, who left this world on July 25, 2026, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette, LA. Born on August 8, 1943, in Lafayette, Dolores gifted 82 years of warmth, kindness, and unwavering love to her community and all who were blessed to know her.

Dolores will be remembered for a life shaped by her appreciation of simple joys and her passion for the world around her. She found solace and delight while camping and traveling—each journey an opportunity for discovery and treasured moments. At home, Dolores’s devotion was found in her yard and flower beds, nurturing vibrant blooms that brightened her neighborhood and filled her heart with pride.

To those who had the privilege of being in her circle, Dolores’s life was a lesson in the beauty of persistence, creativity, and gentle care. She approached every day with the quiet courage to sow seeds—whether in her garden or among those she loved—that blossomed into memories of compassion and joy.

Dolores is survived by her sons, Todd Soileau and wife Cindy, and Jason Soileau and wife Kellie; her companion Ray Hebert; step-brothers, Billy Brinegar and wife Kim, Kenny Brinegar and wife Ginger; sister, Theresa Leger; grandchildren, Timmy Soileau and wife Victoria, Joseph Soileau and wife Ashley, Emily Soileau, Peyton Dekerlegand and husband Garrett, Addison Soileau and Adam Dupont; step grandchildren, Crystal LaCroix and husband Stephen, and David Lagrange; and 7 great-grandchildren, Owen, Avery, Gunner, Kynleigh, Eli, Austin and River.

Dolores was proceeded in death by her husband, John Edward Soileau; son, Keith Soileau; father, Moise Kidder; mother, Lorena Brinegar; step-father, Frank Brinegar; brothers, Will Kidder and Mike Kidder; brother-in-law, Jessie Leger; and companion, Ronnie Piatt.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of OPELOUSAS. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. by BooBoo Soileau. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of OPELOUSAS.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Soileau, Timmy Soileau, Garrett Dekerlegand, Billy Brinegar, Shannon Ardoin and David Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will be Owen and Gunner Soileau.

Dolores K. Soileau’s memory will remain a lasting comfort, inspiring all who knew her to find wonder in nature, to bloom where they are planted, and to savor each new horizon.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana INC.
