Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial for Deborah Sue Richard will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Morrow, La. Fr. Vincent will conduct the mass. Burial will follow at the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Morrow, La.

A visitation will held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A rosary will be recited on Monday, at 6:30 p.m. by Fr. Vincent. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Deborah Sue Richard, born on September 9, 1954, peacefully passed away on April 16, 2026, at Senior Village Nursing Home. Her departure leaves a tender void in the hearts of all who knew her, a void filled with memories of her unwavering devotion and gentle spirit.

Deborah was a woman whose essence radiated through her dedication to her family. She was an excellent housewife, taking great pride in caring for her children and grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and love, a testament to her nurturing heart and steadfast commitment to those she cherished most.

Deborah is survived by her husband, David Richard; two sons, Shannon (Tiffany) Richard, and Rickey (Tesseca) Richard; one daughter, Kelly (John) Gillen; brothers, Paul Wayne (Margret) Ortego and Danny (Debbie) Ortego; sisters, Shirley (Ray) Stephens, Rita Deshotel, and Carolyn (Carl) Devillier; grandchildren, Mason Richard, Spencer Richard, Lorriane Richard, Tyler Richard, Kylie (Griffin) Snyder, Kross Gillen, Alexis Gillen, Mallory Gillen, Michael Richard, Rae’Lyn Richard, Ryhlee Richard, Reagan Richard, and Raniyah Richard; great-grandchildren, Kali Ardoin, Khloe Snyder, Kammie Snyder, Ryan Richard, and Jalayah Anderson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruby Ortego; son, Todd Kent Richard; grandson, Jean’ Todd Duos; brother, Bobby Ortego; and sister, Kathy Griffin.

Pallbearers who will serve for the funeral will be Kross Gillen, Tyler Richard, Michael Richard, Griffin Snyder, Mason Richard, and Spencer Richard.

Deborah’s life story is written not only in years but woven through the tapestry of loving acts and cherished relationships. She was a cornerstone of strength and tenderness, a guiding light whose memory will continue to inspire her family and friends. Her legacy endures in every smile of her grandchildren and in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
